Being a proptech founder can be hard – mentally, emotionally and physically. 

In this interview, Ash Farrugia from Active Pipe opens up about the life lessons he learned to become one of Australia’s most successful proptech entrepreneurs. 

Earlier this year, Active Pipe was purchased by Moxiworks – a comprehensive open platform system serving more than 800 brokerages and 400,000 agents across the US, accounting for more than 20% of the country’s transactions. 

Ash told the Proptech Forum audience that every business he had ever started, including Active Pipe, never ended up where you thought it would.

“And so what I tell people is, just find something that people are willing to pay for, go live, go for it and then you will find ‘it’ through your journey and you can pivot. 

“And Active Pipe was no different to that. 

“We started out as a web-to-print provider for real estate … we clipped on a bit of lead nurturing as a piece of functionality … and then we started getting organic adoption of that, for that piece of technology.”
